Holiday online transactions total 14.05 billion

China registered a total of 14.05 billion online transactions during the just-concluded three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday, with increases in both volume and value year on year, according to data released by the central bank on Tuesday.

According to the People's Bank of China, card payment giant China UnionPay and online payment clearing house NetsUnion Clearing Corporation handled a total of 14.05 billion transactions during the holiday from May 31 to June 2, up 13 percent from the same period of last year.

The combined value of the payment transactions reached 4.8 trillion yuan (about 67 billion U.S. dollars), rising 3.4 percent from last year.

The volume and value of transactions made by overseas visitors via UnionPay and NetsUnion climbed respectively by 118.6 percent and 58.8 percent year on year during the holiday.

China Media Group (CMG), the country's flagship broadcaster, unveiled its 2026 flagship drama lineup in Beijing on Friday.

The new lineup will align natural narrative and creative innovation with the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), continuously amplify the voice of mainstream values, and continue promoting the deep integration of film and television with cultural tourism, according to CMG.
