Moments of mother pandas parenting their young cubs "toughly" have been captured on camera in newly-released video footage taken at a research base in southwest China's Sichuan Province.
The first family, mother Pan Qing and daughter Long Pan, was having a family fight. With the rebellious daughter banging her head against Pan Qing, the mother decided to teach the young cub a lesson and gently knocked her down the slope, triggering waves of laughter.
On June 29, 2024, Pan Qing delivered a pair of twin sisters in the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda (CCRCGP), and Long Pan was the younger sister.
In the second shot, the young boy Xiu Chen, who was born on August 17, 2024, in CCRCGP, was going through strict combat training with his mother Shui Xiu. After rounds of fights, Xiu Chen, totally knocked out, decided to "escape" from his mother's training session, but accidentally tripped over, rolling like a furry ball.
Both clips were captured at the Shenshuping base of CCRCGP, a world-leading institution for the breeding and conservation of pandas that pioneers panda rewilding studies, and boasts the largest captive breeding panda population in the world.
The center has also established a global platform for promoting international cooperation and exchanges involving 18 zoos from 16 countries and regions, as well as 39 domestic animal breeding institutions and more than 10 scientific research institutes.
