Russia said on Sunday that its forces were for the first time pushing into central Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region, a claim denied by the Ukrainian side.
The Russian Defense Ministry said in its latest report that units of the 90th Tank Division of the Central Grouping of Russian forces had reached the western frontier of Donetsk region and were moving westward in the neighboring Dnipropetrovsk region.
The ministry also said that over the past 24 hours, Russian forces had targeted Ukrainian drone production and storage facilities, as well as ammunition depots and temporary troops deployment sites.
In response, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Sunday denied Russia's claim, accusing Moscow of spreading disinformation to create tensions among Ukrainians.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that a total of 49 drones launched by Russia attacked Ukraine from 21:00 Saturday to 09:00 Sunday, 40 of which were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense systems.
Despite the ongoing hostilities, both sides announced on Sunday that an exchange of the bodies of fallen soldiers was expected to take place in the coming days.
Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin, a representative of the Russian negotiating group, said on Sunday that Russia had delivered the first batch of 1,212 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers to a border exchange point in accordance with the agreement reached in Istanbul, Türkiye.
During the talks between the two sides in Istanbul, Moscow agreed to return to Ukraine 6,000 bodies of fallen soldiers.
Zorin added that Russia is prepared to transfer more than 6,000 bodies of Ukrainian soldiers by train or road.
On the same day, Ukraine's military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov confirmed that the exchange of deceased soldiers' bodies, agreed upon during the Ukraine-Russia talks in Istanbul, would begin in the coming days.
