The recent issuance by a public security sub-bureau in south China’s Guangzhou City of a wanted notice for 20 key suspects from the Taiwan island for launching cyber-attacks is just a law enforcement action taken by mainland public securities authorities against the "Taiwan independence" separatists tied to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Taiwan, a mainland spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Zhu Fenglian, spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, made the statement at a press conference in Beijing in response to a query on the action of the Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau's Tianhe District Sub-Bureau to issue on June 5 the wanted notice with reward for the 20 key suspects from the Taiwan island who were involved in cyberattacks against the mainland, warning that further law enforcement actions may be taken by mainland public securities authorities against the culprits if they dare to continue committing crimes to this effect.

According to the notice, those individuals belong to Taiwan's so-called "Information, Communications and Electronic Force Command," which the mainland accuses of conducting organized, illegal cyber activities against mainland network infrastructure.

"Both sides of the Taiwan Strait belong to one China. Taiwan is a part of China. Anyone who endangers national sovereignty, security or development interests will not escape punishment by law. The DPP authorities have been orchestrating the moves of the so-called 'Information, Communications and Electronic Force Command' to frequently launch indiscriminate cyberattacks and sabotage against mainland network infrastructure, disrupting the public order and harming public interests. The facts of their wrongdoings are clear and the evidence to prove their acts is conclusive. For the next step, we will continue to take effective legal measures to pursue those responsible to the end, with zero tolerance," Zhu said.

"First, we will utilize all available judicial channels to strictly punish the 20 wanted criminal suspects in accordance with law. Second, all members of the so-called 'Information, Communications and Electronic Force Command' will be placed under heightened scrutiny, and any illegal activities they engage in will be severely punished pursuant to law. And third, we will resolutely crack down, in accordance with law, on any collusion between the DPP authorities and external forces that manipulate this cyber force in launching attacks on mainland network infrastructure," she said.

Protests against federal immigration enforcement are spreading across the United States, with the latest demonstration unfolding directly in front of the White House.

Early Saturday, more than a hundred demonstrators gathered there, demanding changes to the Trump administration's immigration policies and accountability for recent shootings involving federal agents.

Immigrant rights and civil rights groups said this weekend's rallies mark a coordinated national response. Demonstrations are planned or already underway in major cities including Philadelphia, as well as across states such as North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Washington, D.C., where organizers are calling for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to be removed from local communities.

The nationwide protests follow a deadly week in which three people were shot by federal agents in two days.

In Minneapolis, Minnesota, a 37-year-old woman, Renee Good, was killed during an enforcement operation by the ICE. A day later in Portland, Oregon, a man and a woman were wounded during a separate federal operation.

In the aftermath, Minnesota state officials accused the Trump administration of blocking their investigation by denying access to key evidence and prematurely drawing conclusions before a full review could be completed.

On Friday, Donald Trump defended the Department of Homeland Security's actions, sharply criticizing Minnesota leaders and calling them corrupt.

Local leaders have pushed back. During a Saturday news conference, the mayor of Minneapolis described ICE agents' actions as reckless.

Officials in both Minneapolis and Portland continue urging demonstrators to remain peaceful as protests intensify nationwide.

According to a 50501 Movement statement issued Friday, at least 32 people died in ICE custody in 2025.
