The ongoing ninth China-South Asia Expo in southwest China's Yunnan Province has seen trade ties deepen and collaborations expand among regional countries.
Running from June 19 to June 24, this year's Expo highlights growing trade, innovation, and cultural exchange between China and Asian countries. The expo has drawn representatives from over 70 countries, regions and international organizations, as well as over 2,500 enterprises.
Under the theme "Solidarity and Coordination for Common Development", the event is one of the most significant economic and trade platforms between China and South Asian nations. Political leaders and distinguished guests from across the region gathered to explore new opportunities for collaboration.
With ASEAN at the center, eight member states,—including Indonesia, Laos, and Vietnam are showcasing their full potential at the Expo.
"We're from Bali and we've been in the business for 10 years now. And all of our pieces are carefully crafted by our silversmith by hand, and also we have a lot of Hindus and Balinese values. So we like to bring the local artisan to the world. And this is our fourth time here and last year we quite happy with the response of the market here so that's why we come back," said an Indonesian exhibitor.
As the only single-industry pavilion at this year's South Asia Expo, the Coffee Industry Pavilion features a full supply chain exhibition—from cultivation and processing to branding and sales.
"We can package liquid coffee extract, goji berry concentrate, tea concentrates, and other liquid products. This single machine here can replace the work of about 20 people, boosting efficiency by more than 20 times—around 20 to 25 times. We're already working with partners in Cambodia, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. At this year's China-South Asia Expo, we've also welcomed potential clients from Indonesia, India, and Bangladesh. Many customers from Southeast Asian countries have come to check out our equipment," said Liu Guibin, exhibitor from Hongyi Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd.
The Coffee Industry Pavilion has also attracted coffee companies from Indonesia, Vietnam, Africa, and more, fostering cross-border industrial cooperation.
"Our company has been importing coffee beans from Indonesia for over 10 years. In the beginning, the volume was quite small, but as the market expanded, our imports have gradually increased year by year," said another exhibitor from Liansheng International Trade Co., Ltd.
In addition to the Coffee Industry Pavilion, the Expo features specialized pavilions focused on emerging technologies. As China and Southeast Asian countries deepen their collaboration, new areas such as green energy, smart manufacturing, and digital economy are emerging as new growth drivers.
