The 27th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) concluded on Sunday, generating an economic benefit of approximately five billion yuan (about 700 million U.S. dollars) across various sectors.

Over the 10-day event, more than 400 films from 71 countries and regions were screened at 43 cinemas across Shanghai, with 49 percent making their debut.

SIFF also featured a wide range of activities, including the Golden Goblet Awards ceremony -- its top honor -- as well as the 2025 China Film and TV Night and the Belt and Road Film Week.

By blending film with consumer experiences, the festival creates a unique "film-plus-consumption" effect, boosting foot traffic, enriching local activities, and opening new avenues for the commercialization of the creative industry.

Statistics show that the festival generated an economic benefit of approximately five billion yuan across various sectors, including transportation, accommodation, catering, tourism, and retail.
