China looks forward to working with all parties to support the continuous growth of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), as part of efforts to promote infrastructure connectivity and sustainable development in Asia, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun at a press briefing in Beijing on Tuesday.

Guo briefed the media on the bank's achievements in the past decade and on the 10th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors which is set to open in Beijing this Thursday.

"The AIIB is a new type of multilateral development bank for the 21st century that was established under President Xi Jinping’s proposal and commitment. Since its establishment, thanks to the joint support from all of its members, AIIB has acted as a truly international, rule-based and high-standard institution, achieved leapfrog development and become a new important member of the system of global multilateral development institutions, making active contribution to global infrastructure development and sustainable growth," said Guo.

"This year's annual meeting under the theme of 'Connecting for Development, Collaborating for Prosperity' will take stock of what has been achieved in the past decade and chart the course for the next decade, and is of crucial significance in carrying forward the past to the future. China looks forward to working with all parties to jointly support AIIB's development, make new and greater contribution to promoting infrastructure connectivity and sustainable development in Asia and improving the global economic governance system, and better build a community with a shared future for mankind," he said.

China's top political advisor Wang Huning has met with delegates attending the 11th national congress of the Taoist Association of China, which was held on Monday and Tuesday in Beijing.

Wang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, stressed the importance of implementing the Party's basic policy on religious affairs, and of guiding followers and key figures of Taoism to contribute to the country's modernization drive.

Wang urged the association to exercise full and rigorous governance over the religion, intensify efforts to raise awareness of the rule of law, and foster an image of a Taoist community that is patriotic and devoted to the faith, maintains good conduct, abides by the law, and upholds Taoist precepts.

He encouraged the association to cultivate talent proficient in both canonical teachings and fine traditional Chinese culture, and to expand global exchange in Taoism.

At the national congress, the association adopted a revised charter, as well as a set of religious rules and regulations, and elected new leadership.
