Iran's state broadcaster, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), condemned Israeli strike on its building in Tehran and stated that it will seek justice through legal and international channels.
Israel on June 16 launched a strike on the headquarters of Iranian state television outlet IRIB, which reportedly killed three people. The IRIB building was severely damaged, with vehicle burned, walls charred, glasses broken, and debris scattered all over the ground.
"We and our colleagues in the national media are proud to be the mirror of truth. We pursue our mission with great professionalism. We condemn this crime committed by the regime and will certainly address it through legal and international channels," said Peyman Jebelli, head of IRIB in an interview on Wednesday.
Ali Motamedi, Director General of Cultural Affairs of Employees at IRIB, in an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network, disclosed preliminary plans to repurpose the damaged site.
"This place will likely be turned into a museum. If another facility is to be established, it will be built elsewhere," he said.
On June 13, Israel launched major airstrikes on different areas in Iran, including nuclear and military sites, killing senior commanders, nuclear scientists, and civilians. Iran responded by launching several waves of missile and drone attacks on Israel, inflicting casualties and heavy damages.
On Saturday, the U.S. Air Force bombed three Iranian nuclear sites of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. In retaliation, Iran on Monday targeted the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar with missiles.
Following Iran's attack, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire between Israel and Iran would begin around 0400 GMT Tuesday. Both Iran and Israel later confirmed the start of the ceasefire.
