Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa in Beijing on Friday.
Xi said this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ecuador and the relationship between the two countries has enjoyed a sound momentum of growth.
Since Ecuador joined the cooperation under the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), the two countries have signed a free trade agreement and conducted cooperation in fields such as energy, mining, electricity, and infrastructure construction which have yielded fruitful results, he said.
China has always viewed and developed relations with Ecuador from a strategic height and a long-term perspective, he said.
Xi said China is ready to work with Ecuador to continuously push for solid progress in the development of their comprehensive strategic partnership so as to bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
China and Ecuador should be good friends respecting and trusting each other, and good partners seeking common development, said Xi.
Both sides should continue to firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, strengthen exchanges in all fields and at all levels, and enhance experience sharing on state governance, he said.
He called on the two countries to jointly implement key cooperation projects well and push bilateral trade to a new level.
He also underscored the need to strengthen exchanges in such fields as education, culture, media and youth, and deepen mutual learning.
Xi called for joint efforts to implement the outcomes of the fourth ministerial meeting of the China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum, jointly promote the friendship between China and LAC countries, and build a China-LAC community with a shared future, so as to inject positive energy into world peace and development.
Noboa said Ecuador and China have long adhered to mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, and carried out successful and extensive cooperation.
China has provided strong support and assistance for Ecuador's economic and social development, which Ecuador will never forget, he said.
Ecuador looks forward to continuously deepening relations with China, enhancing economic and trade ties, and strengthening cooperation in science and technology, culture, education, and youth, among other sectors.
After the meeting, the two presidents witnessed the signing of an inter-governmental cooperation plan on promoting the Belt and Road Initiative.
