The Chilean Navy's sail training ship Esmeralda, which arrived at a military port in Shanghai on Monday for a five-day goodwill visit, opened to the public on Thursday.
This marks the ship's 10th visit to Shanghai since it was commissioned, making it the foreign naval vessel paying the most visits to the city.
Over 2,000 Chinese visited the ship, and they learned about Esmeralda's structural design, historical development and sailing experiences.
"I was honored to board the Esmeralda when it opened to the public in 2019. Now, after six years, I am thrilled to board it again. I hope that the friendship between China and Chile will last forever," said Cao Xuan, a visitor.
Sailors from the Chinese and Chilean navies had a friendly football match, further strengthening the mutual understanding, trust and friendship between the two navies.
Esmeralda, a symbol and an important training platform of the Chilean Navy, is 113 meters long and 13.1 meters wide, with a standard displacement of 3,420 tons.
