A matchmaking event of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center (BPIC) in Beijing on Saturday saw the signing of deals on 12 projects valued at over 30 billion yuan (about 4.19 billion U.S. dollars), greatly promoting cooperation among BRICS countries.
The 12 projects span various sectors, such as science and technology innovation funds, new materials trade, smart healthcare, and science and technology innovation parks.
Among them, the Bandung Airport Industrial City in Indonesia secured an investment of 12.06 billion yuan (about 1.68 billion U.S. dollars), making it the largest in terms of signing amount.
"The construction will begin in the second half of this year. The project will attract industrial clusters in fields such as food, building materials, home appliances and automobiles to areas in the vicinity of the Bandung Airport," said Chen Riling, CEO of Wanxinda Group Indonesia.
China established the BPIC in 2020 to encourage BRICS cooperation on policy coordination, human resources training and project development.
Since then, the BPIC has operated more than 80 human resources training programs, covering more than 3 million people across over 100 countries. It has also facilitated the signing of a total of agreements on 107 BRICS cooperation projects, with an investment of 50.6 billion yuan (7 billion U.S. dollars).
The guests at the signing ceremony also highly commented on the BPIC's contributions, highlighting its role in fostering investment and collaboration among BRICS countries.
"The BPIC is mainly intended to promote exports and attracts investment. We will bring more Brazilian companies to China and strengthen cooperation between the two countries," said Victor Queiroz, general manager of the Asia-Pacific Office of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.
"The BPIC can implement the relevant policies in integration, and attract economic and trade cooperation partners from BRICS countries to this place, whether for investment, cooperation, or facilitating the global expansion of Chinese companies, as the BRICS network is also expanding," said Kang Hubiao, chairman of Genertec International Holding Co. Ltd.
