The Palestinian death toll in the war-torn Gaza Strip has risen to 57,012, with 134,592 others injured since the latest round of the conflict broke out on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said on Wednesday.
At least 6,454 Palestinians have been killed and 22,551 others injured since Israel resumed its military operations in the enclave on March 18 following a brief ceasefire.
At least 640 Palestinians have been killed and 4,488 injured, many by Israeli gunfire, while trying to get aid at humanitarian aid distribution sites across Gaza.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted several areas in the Gaza Strip since dawn on Wednesday, killing at least 67, including the head of the Indonesian Hospital, one of Gaza's largest medical institutes.
In a statement, Gaza's health authorities condemned Israel's killing of the medical workers.
The Israeli authorities have not commented on Wednesday's air strikes.
