Traditional Chinese solar-term-themed seasonal pastries produced by Beijing's time-honored brand, Daoxiangcun, are enjoying growing popularity, showcasing how traditional culture can drive modern consumption.

Ahead of this lunar year's Xiaoshu, or Lesser Heat, on July 7, the 11th solar term in the Chinese lunar calendar, the century-old brand introduced a special cake made with lotus root and cranberry, combining seasonal ingredients with traditional culinary wisdom.

"The cake is both healthy and delicious," said a customer while sampling the new product at a downtown Beijing store. "The Xiaoshu special with lotus root and cranberries tastes wonderful."

The brand has developed a complete series of pastries corresponding to each of China's 24 solar terms, blending seasonal ingredients with traditional food culture. This innovative approach has successfully tapped into growing consumer interest in traditional culture.

"Market response has been increasingly positive as public recognition of these cultural elements grows. This creates a perfect convergence point for heritage and innovation in our time-honored brand," said Cao Siyuan, head of Daoxiangcun's innovation project.

The Beijing municipal government has rolled out a special action plan to boost fashion consumption, aiming to unlock the capital's consumption potential through four key initiatives: innovative fashion scenarios, enhanced fashion events, brand innovation, and a better urban fashion ambiance.

"We remain committed to developing the debut economy by attracting international brand launch events to Chaoyang while simultaneously cultivating local brands to present their premieres to global customers," said Sheng Ji, Head of the Business Circulation Promotion Section at Beijing Chaoyang District Commerce Bureau.
