A theme exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression opened to the public in Beijing on Monday, offering a panoramic display of the Chinese people's 14-year arduous struggle during the war.
The fresh new exhibition, themed "For National Liberation and World Peace" and hosted by the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, covers an area of 12,200 square meters, featuring 1,525 photographs and 3,237 items.
Visitors to the museum will also see a massive new wall of images, formed by 5,098 historical photographs meticulously gathered and organized by the museum staff over the years for this exhibition.
The precious images document the Chinese nation's heroic resistance from September 18, 1931 to September 2, 1945 - spanning 5,098 days. The museum adopted thematic spatial arrangements and commissioned artists to create multiple paintings, sculptures, and installations to put together a vivid presentation for visitors.
"It took us a year to prepare this exhibition. Our museum also organized multiple teams to study at memorials and museums across the country, learning from their advanced experiences, in order to present a completely new exhibition to the public," said Luo Cunkang, curator of the museum.
Beyond innovative display formats, the exhibition also employs technology and visual color artistry to create immersive scenes, helping visitors gain a deeper understanding of the history.
Historical scenes such as the Pingxingguan Battle, the Hundred-Regiment Campaign, and tunnel warfare have been meticulously reconstructed.
The exhibition also used advanced technologies like holographic projections, transparent display screens, and interactive AI to enhance the visitor experience.
A dedicated section within the exhibition memorializes fallen heroes, prominently featuring the etched names of notable martyrs and heroic units. The exhibits also included items such as detailed archives about the martyrs which were publicly shown for the first time.
