Cooperation between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries has gained growing recognition and support among the local people as it benefits both sides, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Wednesday.
Mao made the comments in response to a latest poll which shows that favorable perceptions of China have continued to rise among populations in LAC's six largest economies, namely Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, and Peru.
"I have also noticed the poll you mentioned. It shows that trade with China benefits LAC countries, and China is a reliable and beneficial source of financing for LAC countries. Chinese infrastructure investment has brought tangible benefits to LAC countries, and cooperation between the two sides has gained growing recognition and support from the people of LAC countries. Just as what President Xi Jinping said, China and LAC countries are advancing hand in hand as a community with a shared future, and this community is founded upon equality, powered by mutual benefit and win-win, invigorated by openness and inclusiveness, and dedicated to the people's well-being. This is precisely why cooperation between China and LAC countries enjoys such strong public support," she added.
