Egyptian Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk welcomed Chinese Premier Li Qiang's visit and hailed the successful cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two countries.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang landed in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on Wednesday for an official visit.
Prior to his arrival, Li attended the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Chinese premier's visit is essential for Egypt because the meetings will focus on increasing cooperation with China in several sectors, including agriculture and industrialization, Farouk told China Global Television Network (CGTN).
"China is the most developed country in agricultural technology. We are working with Chinese investors, who are producing drought-tolerant rice varieties that are more resistant to salinization. There is also a deal for 20 Egyptian scientists to travel to China for scientific research and development," he said.
