The third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) opened in Beijing on Wednesday with a record number of overseas participants, signaling strong global interest and confidence in the Chinese market.

The event attracted a total of 651 enterprises and institutions from 75 countries, regions, and international organizations. Foreign exhibitors account for 35 percent of the total, with half coming from Europe and the United States. With the addition of over 500 upstream and downstream partners accompanying those exhibitors, the total number of participating companies nears 1,200.

Scheduled for July 16-20, the event showcases exhibitions across six key sectors: advanced manufacturing, clean energy, smart vehicles, digital technology, healthy living, and green agriculture, along with an area for supply chain services.

At Wednesday's opening ceremony, an initiative was launched urging the global business community to firmly uphold the multilateral trading system and work together to promote stronger, greener, and healthier global development.

On Wednesday afternoon, 14 conference sessions will take place, while provinces such as Shandong, Hubei, Sichuan, and Inner Mongolia will host industrial matchmaking meetings and signing ceremonies.

"The CISCE is an excellent platform to strengthen global industrial and supply chain cooperation, particularly with China," said Ren Hongbin, chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.

The Lai Ching-te administration's bid to seek Taiwan secession by leaning on external forces is doomed to be crushed, a State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

Recently, Lai again preached his secessionist agenda when meeting with Japanese politicians who were visiting Taiwan.

Zhang Han, the spokeswoman, slammed Lai's actions as a sellout of Taiwan's interests at a press conference in Beijing.

"In exchange for external support for its separatist agenda, the Lai Ching-te administration is repeating the tired refrain of 'democracy versus authoritarianism,' while turning a blind eye to the danger of Japan's right-wing forces marching ever further down a militarist path. It is fawning on Tokyo without any principle, ignoring the plight of the island's high-tech sector being hollowed out at will by Western powers, and selling out Taiwan's interests in a no-holds-barred fashion. The Lai administration's scheme to rely on external forces to seek secession will be thoroughly crushed," she said.
