Latin American products are taking center stage at this year's China International Supply Chain Expo, which is underway in Beijing from Wednesday to Sunday.
As the bilateral trade volume between China and Latin America hit a record high last year with 6 percent increase year on year, Latin American producers have brought their featured goods to the 2025 expo, which has been winning over Chinese consumers.
For Colombia, one of the best coffee producers, its coffee beans have already gained a world reputation. For the Supply Chain Expo, they have set up the national booth to provide freshly-made coffee, as well as various coffee products.
"Colombia, due to its geographical location, which is situated in one of the best coffee belts, grows beans with a rich aroma of chocolate and nuts. Medium-roasted beans are especially favored by consumers," said a staff member from the Colombia national booth.
For Bolivia, Alpaca dolls, furs, and agricultural products are among their best sellers.
"Bolivia is one of the countries where alpacas originated. (Other products) like chia seeds and quinoa are also quite popular among Chinese consumers now. Fitness enthusiasts and athletes especially like them. Bolivia is a high-altitude country, typically over 1,500 meters above sea level, so everything is organic and naturally grown. Bolivia is also a multi-ethnic country, and they have the famous Oruro Carnival every year, a very grand celebration," said Cheng Hao, a staff member of the Embassy of Bolivia in China.
Since 2012, China has become Latin America's second-largest trading partner. The Supply Chain Expo offers Latin American countries opportunities not only to further economic and trade cooperation with China, but also to deepen people-to-people connections by establishing direct links with Chinese consumers.
