The "Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025" (Art Macao 2025) opened on Friday, featuring nearly 30 exhibitions across six sections, with participation from artists around the world.

Running from July to October, the event is organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, in collaboration with the SAR government's tourism office and various local enterprises.

The main exhibition features nearly 80 artworks by 46 artists, blending art with everyday life and showcasing interactive works that incorporate artificial intelligence technology.

As a major highlight of the event, a special exhibition focusing on Jingdezhen -- the renowned "porcelain capital" in east China's Jiangxi Province -- also opened on the same day. The exhibition offers a comprehensive look at the inheritance and innovation of Jingdezhen's ceramic art, vividly illustrating Macao's role in the global journey of Chinese porcelain. "Macao was once an important hub for the export of Jingdezhen ceramics and a key point in the global spread of Chinese culture. This exhibition aims to help people better understand Jingdezhen, the artistry of our ceramics, and the essence of Chinese culture, including how it has reached the world, and how we can continue to innovate while honoring our cultural traditions," said Linda Chen, president of the Macao Chinese Excellent Traditional Culture Association.

According to the organizers, the event will also spotlight local talent through six exhibitions curated by Macao-based artists, exploring themes of cultural identity, language, and ecology.

Leong Wai Man, head of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and mutual learning, noting that artists from around the world will each have a role to play.

"The concept behind our Biennale is to create 'a citywide art gallery and art parks everywhere.' We also hope that artists who visit will experience the distinctive cultural features of both the Macao SAR and China," Leong said.

Protesters filled Mexico City's Paseo de la Reforma on Saturday, rallying in solidarity with Venezuela and denouncing U.S. influence in Latin America.

The United States launched a large-scale military operation against Venezuela in the early hours of Jan 3, taking by force Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.

Holding numerous flags and banners while chanting slogans intermittently, a huge crowd of protesters criticized U.S. military actions against Venezuela and the unlawful control over President Maduro and his spouse, calling for respect for national sovereignty and regional peace.

"We oppose the U.S. intervention and hegemony towards the countries in Latin America. The United States has flagrantly trampled on international law, bombed Caracas and kidnapped the Maduro couple. The U.S. interventionism has become extremely blatant. We must firmly oppose and be highly vigilant, because this is not only related to a certain country, but also to all countries," said a protester.

"We demand that the United States stop interfering in Venezuela's internal affairs. The country must immediately cease its exploitation and plundering of the countries in Latin America," said another protester.
