Russia on Friday claimed that it had taken control of five settlements in the past week, and Ukraine reported on the same day that its troops had repelled multiple Russian assaults over the past day.

Russia's Ministry of Defense said in its weekly report on Friday that over the past week, Russian forces had taken control of five settlements and conducted 10 joint strikes on military targets, including Ukrainian defense industry facilities, military airfield infrastructure, and assembly and storage sites for Ukrainian drones.

The Russian Black Sea Fleet destroyed four Ukrainian unmanned boats, and Russian air defense systems intercepted and shot down 27 Ukrainian aerial bombs, seven rockets, four Neptune anti-ship missiles, and 2,049 drones, according to the ministry.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces said in its battlefield updates on Friday that 85 combat engagements had occurred along the front lines as of Friday afternoon, with the most intensive fighting taking place in Pokrovsk.

Russian forces launched attacks on Ukrainian border settlements, while Ukrainian troops repelled multiple Russian assaults, according to the Ukrainian side.

China on Friday sent a sea-launched rocket from the waters near the eastern province of Shandong, placing a group of satellites into planned orbit.

The commercial rocket, CERES-1 Y7, blasted off at 04:10 (Beijing Time), carrying the satellites belonging to the Tianqi constellation. The Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center conducted this offshore mission.
