The 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) that opened Saturday in Shanghai serves as a platform for a showcase of cutting-edge applications and breakthroughs in large AI models along with the formal establishment of the Center for Global AI Innovative Governance.
As guests entered the venue, they were greeted by a technology-meets-art performance - a live music concert featuring not only robots and robotic dogs as dancers but also singers wearing AI-powered smart glasses.
"These glasses are equipped with our teleprompter functionality. We've embedded all song lyrics directly into the glasses. Singers and guest performers can see the lyrics right in front of their eyes," said Zhou Wenfei, an exhibitor at the conference.
Besides serving as a teleprompter, the AI glasses are also capable of offering navigation, translation and AI intelligent recognition services.
When the glasses are connected to a smartphone, the latter will instantly captured a photo and recognized both the physical exhibition booth and the accompanying text based on the voice demand of the user.
"The glasses are now fully integrated with the Minmax voice model. It offers ultra-low latency and a highly human-like interaction experience, making the feedback feel just like talking to a real person," said Wang Su, another exhibitor.
Another eye-catching innovation came from the field of scientific research: a live demonstration of an AI-powered chemical synthesis system. The device, integrated with a chemistry-focused large model, autonomously designed and executed a molecular synthesis experiment.
"With AI-driven smart workflows, the system can handle experiments under multiple conditions. It simplifies the process and reduces time spent by over 40 percent. Every step is precisely controlled, which improves the accuracy of the experiments," said exhibitor named Wen Liangsheng.
