China's rail network handles over 400 mln passenger trips since July

China's railway system has handled 402 million passenger trips since this year's summer rush started on July 1, a surge of 4.8 percent year on year, China Railway said on Tuesday.

To meet the surging travel demand, China's railway system added 541 passenger trains per day on average.

For Tuesday, the railway network is expected to see 12.9 million passenger trips in the single day, with 462 added trains scheduled.

Hong Kong's stock market declined on Friday with the benchmark Hang Seng Index down 0.29 percent to close at 26,844.96 points.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index lost 0.50 percent to end at 9,220.81 points, and the Hang Seng Tech Index edged down 0.11 percent to 5,822.18 points.
