Rescuers successfully evacuated stranded people on Tuesday in the flood-hit mountain areas of Huairou District in northern Beijing, as relief efforts continue.

Since the onset of the intense rainfall, Beijing had recorded an average precipitation of 165.9 mm citywide as of midnight Monday. The northern mountainous areas bore the brunt, with Miyun receiving 543.4 mm -- the highest rainfall -- while Huairou experienced the peak intensity.

Liulimiao Town in Huairou District, northeast Beijing, is one of the areas hardest hit by the disaster this time. As the roads leading to the affected villages have been blocked by debris and silt, rescuers had to reach the affected areas on foot.

In order to facilitate the transfer of stranded people, firefighters used materials such as tree trunks and ropes at hand to quickly build a wooden bridge above flooding water.

After crossing the broken bridge, the rescuers pulled up ropes to help people move along a steep slope to pass a damaged road section. Those who were able to move independently held onto the rope and carefully walked along the edge of the slope. For the elderly, children, and wounded who have difficulty moving, the rescuers carried them one by one through the dangerous section.

Among the trapped people was a 4-month-old baby. Rescuers carefully escorted the baby through the dangerous section by either lifting or holding him.

Currently, the rescue personnel in Liulimiao Town have been divided into dozens of teams reaching out to various villages in search of survivors.

The commercial rocket, CERES-1 Y7, blasted off at 04:10 (Beijing Time), carrying the satellites belonging to the Tianqi constellation. The Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center conducted this offshore mission.
