Blue Circle: a second life for marine plastic waste

2025-07-31 16:08 Last Updated At:18:17

Discarded plastic bottles that once polluted oceans are now being transformed into eco-friendly clothing, footwear, stationery, and smartphone accessories through an innovative project called "Blue Circle".

But what truly sets this project apart is its innovative traceability system: each product carries a unique QR code that allows consumers to track its remarkable journey - from marine pollutant to functional product.

This inspiring story is featured in the upcoming China Global Television Network (CGTN) documentary "China Quest: A Journey Through Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains", premiering August 3.

The documentary follows Erik Solheim, Chairman of the Europe-Asia Center and former UN Under-Secretary-General, as he travels across China finding the country's green solutions that are changing the world.
