A new section of the Chongqing-Xiamen high-speed railway, launched in late June, has not only connected abundant tourism resources along the route, but also brought development dividends to local enterprises.
The new section, from Chongqing to Qianjiang, has offered more options for residents in Chongqing especially during the summer travel season.
"In the past, we could only take bus to come here, and there were few ones from some cities connecting here. With the high-speed rail, it is much more convenient for us to travel," a tourist said.
In addition, the new section boosted economic vitality along the route.
According to officials from Qianjiang high-tech industrial development zone, there are a total of 63 projects under negotiation in the first half of 2025, with a proposed investment amount reaching 30 billion yuan (about 4.17 billion U.S. dollars), three times that of the same period last year.
In particular, investment in manufacturing projects accounted for approximately 26 billion yuan (around 3.61 billion U.S. dollars), five times that of the same period last year.
"We will continue to optimize the business environment, make every effort to ensure rapid signing, implementation, and effectiveness of projects under negotiation, and truly transform the opportunities brought by high-speed rail into development dividends for the high-tech zone," said Wang Yan, official with Qianjiang high-tech industrial development zone.
