"The Eight Great Prose Masters" encompasses two luminaries from the Tang Dynasty, Liu Zongyuan and Han Yu, as well as six notable figures from the Song Dynasty: Ouyang Xiu, Wang Anshi, Zeng Gong, Su Xun and his sons Su Shi and Su Zhe.
