Disinfection campaign carried out in Yuzhong County after flash floods

First responders on Sunday launched a thorough disinfection campaign n Xinglongshan Village, Gansu Province's Yuzhong County, one of the areas hit by torrential rain-triggered flash floods on Thursday evening.

The responders sanitized streets, damaged homes, public areas, and garbage sites to prevent post-disaster disease outbreaks. They also cautioned residents on hygiene and household disinfection to enhance community health awareness.

"All [armed police] and firefighters here are clearing mud from every household before carrying out disinfection inside," said Yue Cunming, official of Xinglongshan Village Committee.

Oil prices fell on Thursday.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery dropped 2.83 U.S. dollars, or 4.56 percent, to settle at 59.19 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for March delivery lost 2.76 dollars, or 4.15 percent, to settle at 63.76 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
