The underground gas storage cluster of the Dagang Oilfield in north China's Tianjin Municipality, the main source of natural gas supply in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, has reached an annual capacity of more than three billion cubic meters, according to PetroChina, China's largest oil and gas producer.
As the largest and most efficient regional regulatory gas source in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area, the Dagang Oilfield gas storage cluster serves the seasonal peak-shaving and emergency gas supply tasks in the region.
The gas storage cluster, located in the Tianjin Binhai New Area, comprises 11 underground gas storage areas, including those at Dazhangtuo, Bannan, and Lvjuhe.
Since the storage complex began its annual gas injection program in March of this year, injection efficiency has increased by 15 percent compared to one year earlier through optimized injections and refined operations as well as maintenance management, reaching a maximum daily injection volume of 21.16 million cubic meters, said PetroChina.
As of now, 92 percent of the annual gas injection has been completed.
So far, the facilities at Dagang Oilfield have accumulated nearly 80 billion cubic meters of gas injection and extraction, making it the largest gas storage cluster in the country.
