Guests from China and Russia on Monday recalled the blood-shedding history during the World Anti-Fascist War at a cultural exchange event held in Moscow, with special tribute paid to those who documented history through images and videos.

"Echo of Peace" Cultural Exchange Event, co-hosted by China Media Group (CMG) and the Chinese Embassy in Russia, was held to commemorate the sacrifices made during the World Anti-Fascist War and promote bilateral cooperation in the future.

The event was attended by Zhang Wei, minister counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Russia; Andrey Denisov, first deputy chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation; Ivan Arkhipov, deputy chairman of the Society for Russian-Chinese Friendship; and Natalya Khryukina, chairwoman of the Association of Descendants of Russian Volunteer Pilots Aid to China and daughter of Timofey T. Khryukin, an ace pilot of the Soviet Volunteer Air Force Aid to China.

Shen Haixiong, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and CMG president, delivered a video speech at the event. Shen said that history is the best textbook, and called on all people to draw wisdom and strength from this magnificent history and work together to meet common challenges in today's turbulent world.

CMG is committed to deepening cooperation with international partners, integrating "ideas + art + technology" to build a media platform for news reporting, information exchange, and resource sharing, Shen said.

Denisov said that the Russian people always remember the contributions made by the Chinese people to the main battlefield of the World Anti-Fascist War in the East, and the feats of Soviet military experts and pilots who aided China and fought side by side with their Chinese friends. Today, it is of special significance to safeguard the authentic historical memory and revisit those historical moments that connected the two countries and their peoples, he said.

"You know, I am actually a representative of the older generation. People of my generation have witnessed many things firsthand, while the younger generation can only learn about history through various records. I must express my deepest gratitude to those who record history and preserve memory through image and video technology. I thank them for this truly selfless dedication," he said.

Attendees noted at the event that 80 years ago, the peoples of the two countries fought shoulder-to-shoulder in a hard-fought struggle, making immense sacrifices and a decisive contribution to the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War.

They also expressed hope for continued growth in bilateral relations, making the "Echo of Peace" truly resonate across the globe.

At the event, attendees watched a historical film about the World Anti-Fascist War, which included footage of children paying tribute to the martyrs, highlighting that the victory and the current happy life are hard-won.

Valery Baranov, Russian Military Commander, Colonel General, Professor and Full Member of the Academy of Military Sciences of the Russian Federation, presented medals to the guests commemorating the 80th anniversary of victory in the war against Japanese aggression.

According to organizers, the "Echo of Peace" Cultural Exchange Event series will also be held in Kenya, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mexico, the United Kingdom, and other countries.
