China's V-Day military parade will incorporate a host of symbolic elements to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, said a senior military officer on Wednesday.
At a press conference on the parade preparations, Wu Zeke, deputy director of the Leading Group Office of Military Parade and deputy director general of the Operation Bureau of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission said the parade will present symbolic elements featuring key moments in the war, and revealed classic musics to be played.
"We added new elements in the design of the parade. We've incorporated features of the war of resistance such as the victory in 1945, the 80th anniversary, and the 14-year struggle into the scale of the parade, the number of participating troops and equipment, and the formations, enriching the overall meaning and emphasizing the commemorative nature of the event," Wu said.
"To enhance the commemorative atmosphere, the songs of war of resistance will be played as opener of the commemorative ceremony. The joint military band and chorus will perform live classic pieces reflecting the war of resistance, such as 'On the Songhua River', 'On the Taihang Mountains', and 'Defend the Yellow River'," he said.
"In terms of presenting the historical significance, various forms will be used to highlight the unshakable truth that 'justice, peace and people will eventually prevail,' to further demonstrate that the People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War are great victories of justice over evil, light over darkness, and progress over reactionary forces," he concluded.
