China's top legislator Zhao Leji met with Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, in Beijing on Wednesday.
Zhao, chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, said China stands ready to work with Vietnam to further implement the outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Vietnam in April, strengthen strategic communication, and deepen solidarity and coordination, so that the two countries will advance together along their respective modernization paths and accelerate the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
He said the NPC is willing to enhance exchanges with Vietnam's National Assembly, engage in mutual learning on building socialist rule-of-law states, and provide legal guarantee for pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.
Phuong noted that developing relations with China is an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and the top priority of Vietnam.
He said Vietnam's National Assembly is ready to work with China's NPC, in accordance with the important consensuses reached by the leaders of the two ruling parties and the two countries, to increase exchanges and mutual learning in legislation and oversight, and to contribute, as legislative bodies, to the reform and development of each nation.
