Murder and attempted suicide in Yau Ma Tei
Police are investigating a murder and attempted suicide case happened in Yau Ma Tei today (August 27) in which a man was injured, a boy and a girl died.
At 3.15pm, Police received a report from a woman that her husband, son and daughter were suspected to have collapsed in a flat on 831D Canton Road.
Police officers sped to the scene. After firemen forcibly opened the door, the 40-year-old man was found lying inside the unit and with injuries to his neck. He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in unconscious state. The eight-year-old boy and the three-year-old girl were found lying beside the man. Sustaining no superficial injury, they were sent to Kwong Wah Hospital in unconscious state and were certified dead at 4.40pm and 4.54pm respectively.
Initial investigations revealed that the man had allegedly attempted to commit suicide, and allegedly murdered his children in the unit. The case was classified as murder and attempted suicide.
A 24 centimeters long fruit knife and two cutters in suspected connection with the case were seized inside the unit. No will note was found at scene.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted later to ascertain the cause of death of the deceased.
Active investigation by the District Crime Squad of Yau Tsim District is underway.
