Preparations for China's V-Day military parade to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War are "essentially complete," a military official said on Thursday.

At a press conference in Beijing, Wu Zeke, deputy director of the Military Parade Leading Group Office and deputy director general of the Operation Bureau of the Joint Staff Department of the Central Military Commission, briefed the media on the preparation work of the parade.

"The military parade is an important part of the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. It features a full spectrum of participants, a systematic organizational structure, and a large number of weapons and equipment with a high proportion of them making their debut. It is a concentrated display of military's new achievements in political development, force structure, modernization, and combat readiness as it embarks on a new journey of the new era," said Wu.

"At present, we have completed three comprehensive rehearsals in the Tian'anmen Square area, with results meeting expectations. All participating troops are in high spirits and morale is strong. All weapons and equipment involved in the parade remain in good condition. Preparations for the parade are essentially complete, and we have entered the final countdown," he added.

The V-Day military parade will be held on Sept 3 in Tian'anmen Square in Beijing.
