Nepali PM arrives in Tianjin to attend SCO summit

Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli arrived in China's Tianjin Municipality on Saturday afternoon to attend the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, scheduled for August 31 and September 1.

Nepal officially became a dialogue partner of the SCO in March 2016, deepening its regional engagement.

This year also marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Nepal, a milestone in their enduring partnership.

As one of the earliest supporters of the Belt and Road Initiative, Nepal has strengthened its economic ties with China, now its second-largest trading partner.

In 2024, bilateral trade surged to over 2.1 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year growth of about 22 percent.
