Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in the Chinese port city of Tianjin on Sunday evening to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025, which is running from Sunday to Monday.

This is Pezeshkian's first visit to China since he was elected President of Iran in July last year.

In July 2023, Iran officially became a member of the SCO. China and Iran enjoy long-standing and profound friendship, and the two countries established a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016.

After attending the SCO Summit, President Pezeshkian will go to Beijing to attend the events commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
