A series of new-generation equipment for land combat were displayed on Wednesday in a military parade at the Tian'anmen Square to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

A total of seven groups joined the joint armament formations for the parade, including those for land combat, maritime combat, air defense and anti-missile operations, information warfare, unmanned combat, logistics and equipment support, and strategic strike. The joint armament formations were organized in a manner reflecting their functions in real combat.

The armament display was ushered in by a banner formation showcasing 80 honorary banners of the hero units in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, bearing the glory from the past.

It was followed by the land combat group consisting of four formations of land assault, amphibious assault, airborne assault, and long-range artillery forces.

The land assault formation is consisted of a series of new-generation armored vehicles of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), including the Type-99B tank that features information technology and heavy firepower, and the Type-100 tank and the Type-100 fighting vehicle which are highly intelligent and offer strong coordination capabilities.

The amphibious assault formation included domestically made amphibious wheeled armored assault vehicles, amphibious wheeled armored infantry fighting vehicles, and amphibious wheeled self-propelled howitzer vehicles, which possess strong amphibious mobility, adaptability to complex environment, communication and coordination capabilities, as well as firepower strike and protection expansion capabilities.

The airborne assault formation showcased domestically made new series of tracked airborne combat vehicles that are capable of meeting the air transport and air drop requirements of large military transport aircrafts. They enable long-range aerial delivery and heavy-duty mobile support, facilitating the army's rapid response and deep strikes.

The long-range artillery formation demonstrated the army's ability of conducting long-range suppression and precise strikes. The two types of 191 long-range box-shaped rocket artillery can carry out battle-level strikes and tactical support, which expand the boundaries of ground combat.

All the armaments displayed during the parade are domestically made and in active service.

Alongside the latest generation of conventional weapons, the parade featured unmanned intelligent systems, underwater combat units, cyber and electronic forces, and hyper-sonic weapons, highlighting the growing capacity of the PLA to harness emerging technologies, adapt to the evolving character of warfare, and prevail in future conflicts.

The theme of the parade is to affirm the Chinese people's commitment to peace and the armed forces' determination to safeguard it.
