China displayed its maritime combat armaments in a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War held in Beijing on Wednesday.

The first formation of the maritime combat group displayed ship-borne air defense weapons. The four types of equipment on display constitute a multi-range, multi-dimensional air defense system. Among them, the ship-borne laser weapons can carry out precise and sustained strikes and reshape how naval warfare is conducted.

Next came the anti-ship missile formation. It put on show YJ-15 missiles and YJ-19, YJ-17 and YJ-20 hypersonic missiles. The missiles can be deployed on multiple platforms such as ship-borne aircraft, surface vessels and submarines. Their long range, high velocity and great destructive power play a decisive role in naval warfare.

The last of the three formations paraded underwater armament. Lightweight torpedoes, rocket-assisted torpedoes and heavyweight torpedoes can launch surprise attacks and destroy targets both above and under water surface. The new special-purpose naval mines are capable of autonomous target recognition and engagement.

All the armaments displayed during the parade are domestically made and in active service.

Wednesday's parade consists of two parts -- a military review by President Xi Jinping and a march-past of troops in Tian'anmen Square.

The maritime combat formations are one of the seven armament formation groups. The other six series of armament formations -- organized into joint combat-oriented groups -- are the land combat group, air defense and anti-missile operations group, information warfare group, unmanned combat group, logistics and equipment support group, and strategic strike group.
