The pivotal role of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in the entire nation's resistance against Japanese aggression was highlighted at a grand evening gala commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in Beijing on Wednesday evening.

Titled "Red Star Over China", the second chapter of the gala held at the Great Hall of the People presented several stage art forms including poetry recital, song, dance and scene play to depict efforts of the CPC leading the Chinese people in the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region to resist Japanese aggression.

During the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Shaan-Gan-Ning Border Region headquartered in Yan'an City was the most important base area for the CPC. It was in northwest China, stretching across provinces of Shaanxi, Gansu, and Ningxia region.

Faced with a tight economic blockade imposed by the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, and severe food and supply shortages, the base area launched a great production movement for self-reliance.

People in the region actively threw themselves into the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Themed "Remember History, Honor the Martyrs, Cherish Peace, and Create the Future", and focusing on significant historical junctures and historical scenarios of the main Eastern battlefield of the World Anti-Fascist War, the gala highlighted the pivotal role of the CPC in the entire nation's fight against Japanese aggression, and paid tribute to revolutionary martyrs who fought bloody battles in the war.

The gala fully demonstrated China's firm attitude of safeguarding world peace and security and proclaimed the eternal truth that "Justice Prevails", "Peace Prevails" and "The People Prevail".

Chinese President Xi Jinping, other Party and state leaders, war veterans, representatives of merit and honor recipients, and grassroots public representatives attended the gala.

China opposes the use or threat of force in international relations, opposes imposing one's own will on others, and opposes a return of the world to the "law of the jungle," Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday.

During the call, Araghchi briefed Wang on the latest developments in Iran, saying the recent unrest was incited by external forces and that the situation has now returned to stability.

Saying that Iran has made preparations to respond to external interference while keeping the door wide open to dialog, Araghchi expressed hope that China would play a greater role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China consistently upholds the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law, opposes the use or threat of force in international relations, opposes imposing one's own will on others, and opposes a return of the world to the "law of the jungle."

He said that the Chinese side believes the Iranian government and people will stay united, overcome difficulties, maintain national stability, and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.

Wang also called on all parties to cherish peace, exercise restraint, and resolve differences through dialog, adding that China is willing to play a constructive role in this regard.
