Chinese President Xi Jinping called on China and Serbia to carry forward a correct historical perspective on World War II and safeguard the hard-won outcomes of the anti-fascist war when meeting with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Beijing on Thursday.

Vucic is in China for the commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

"Our two great countries made tremendous sacrifices and important contributions to defeating fascism on the Asian and European battlefields respectively during World War II. As the current world is fraught with changes and turmoil, China and Serbia should uphold solidarity and cooperation, carry forward a correct historical perspective on WWII and safeguard the hard-won outcomes of the anti-fascist war. As an ironclad friend, China firmly supports Serbia in safeguarding its national interests and maintaining social stability, and is willing to work with Serbia to constantly achieve new progress in bilateral relations," said Xi.

"Your Excellency President Xi, you have always taken equality in international relations as the cornerstone, upheld the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs, insisted on placing people's well-being at the core of global development, and stayed committed to effectively addressing the concerns of people of all countries and promoting the formation of effective results. These ideas are all good concepts that Serbia will always firmly support. China is our ironclad friend and Serbia will never forget it," said Vucic.

A landmark passenger route linking China's southern island province of Hainan with Europe commenced operation on Sunday, marking the Hainan Free Trade Port's first operational air service under the "seventh-freedom traffic right."

Flight DV481, operated by Kazakhstan's SCAT Airlines, left Sanya Phoenix International Airport on Sunday morning for Prague, the Czech Republic. The inaugural return flight, DV482, arrived in Sanya on Monday, with 115 Czech passengers successfully entering China.

Seventh-freedom rights allow an airline to carry passengers or cargo solely between two foreign countries without any connection to the airline's home country.

The route is operated by SCAT Airlines using a Boeing 737 MAX 9, with one round-trip flight scheduled per week.
