Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel hailed China's 80th anniversary commemorations in Beijing, marking its World War II victory, as a powerful show of military transformation and peaceful intent that boosts Global South confidence and affirms China's stance against imperialist aggression.

China held a grand military parade in Beijing on Wednesday to mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, oversaw the parade and reviewed the troops.

In an interview with China Media Group (CMG) on Thursday, Diaz-Canel said the commemorations had instilled renewed confidence in developing nations across the Global South.

"We were deeply impressed and moved by the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War held yesterday [Wednesday]. The military parade not only embodied solemn beauty, meticulous organization, and flawless execution, but also showcased China's military strength to the world. This reflects the profound transformation and achievements of China's armed forces in science, technology, and military affairs. And these achievements stem from a nation that has consistently adhered to a policy of non-aggression, non-interference, and non-occupation of other countries," said Diaz-Canel.

"By advocating for the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, China has set a global example. At the same time, in the face of hegemony, China has responded with unwavering resolve, demonstrating formidable military capable of curbing any imperialist arrogance. I firmly believe this has instilled strong confidence in many countries, particularly the Global South countries," said the president.

Diaz-Canel joined the commemorations in Beijing on Wednesday, reinforcing Cuba's support for China's message of peace and strength.

China's Dalian Commodity Exchange (DCE) officially launched coking coal options on Friday, marking a new step in enhancing futures market services for the coal-coke-steel industrial chain and the real economy.

As a fundamental raw material for the steel industry, coking coal plays a vital role in ensuring the steady development of steel and related sectors. The listing of coking coal options signals further improvement in China's derivatives market service system.

"After the listing of coking coal options, these instruments will synergize with the existing coking coal futures, coke futures, and iron ore futures and options. This will further improve the risk management tool system for the coal-coke-steel industrial chain, provide more refined and diverse risk management solutions for enterprises, and safeguard their stable and sound operations," said Hu Gangxu, director of the futures derivatives department of Dalian Commodity Exchange.

China is the world's largest producer and consumer of coking coal. Its prime coking coal output accounts for more than 50 percent of global production, while consumption represents over 60 percent of the world total.
