Russia claimed to have destroyed multiple Ukrainian drones on Sunday, while the Russian military-controlled Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP) in southeastern Ukraine reported attacks from the Ukrainian army.
The Russian air defense systems destroyed and intercepted 69 Ukrainian drones early Sunday including 21 over the territory of the Krasnodar Region, 13 over the territory of the Voronezh Region and 10 over the territory of the Belgorod Region, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
Ukraine lost a total of about 1,340 troops in the special military operation zone in the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Saturday.
Black Sea Fleet forces destroyed an unmanned speedboat of the Ukrainian armed forces. In addition, Russian air defenses shot down Ukraine's aerial bombs and drones in the past day. Russian forces also attacked several Ukrainian weapons and supply depots.
The Ukrainian army has attacked the Zaporozhye NPP's training center using drones. The strike hit the roof of Building G, the NPP said on its Telegram channel late Saturday.
The strike was 300 meters away from the power unit. Fire and critical damage were avoided. The levels and conditions for the NPPs safe operation were not violated. The radiation level is normal. The NPP continues to operate as usual, its news release said.
Ukraine has not yet responded to the NPP's statement.
The Ukrainian air force said that Russia fired at least 805 drones and 13 missiles at Ukraine from late Saturday to early Sunday. The Ukrainian military used firepower and electronic warfare, and intercepted 751 aerial targets, including 747 drones and four missiles.
The Ukrainian army repelled Russian offensives in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna, Kursk and Pokrovsk, and launched offensives against Russian forces in Kupiansk and Lyman, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Saturday.
The Ukrainian army destroyed Russian tanks, artillery systems, air defense systems, tactical drones, and other equipment, it said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday on a social media platform that Russia attempts to prolong the war. He called for increased sanctions against Russia and the provision of weapons and equipment to Ukraine.
He said Russia has attacked Ukraine with drones, guided bombs, and various missiles since early September. Ukrainian civilian infrastructure was again attacked by Russian forces early Saturday.
