The foreign ministers of France, Britain and Germany (E3) condemned Israeli airstrikes on Qatari capital Doha Tuesday in a joint statement released on Friday.

In the statement, the ministers said that the Israeli strikes violated "Qatar's sovereignty and risks further escalation in the region," calling on all parties to exercise restraint and seize the opportunity to achieve peace.

The statement also called on Israel to immediately cease military operations in Gaza City, saying that the Israeli military actions have resulted in widespread displacement of the people in the Gaza Strip, significant casualties, and damage to critical infrastructure.

Israel launched an unprecedented airstrike on a residential neighborhood of Doha on Tuesday in what Israeli authorities described as an attempt to assassinate leaders of Hamas.
