The remains of 30 Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) soldiers who lost their lives during the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea (1950-1953) were laid to rest on Saturday in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

During a burial ceremony at the CPV martyrs' cemetery in the city, the guard of honor fired a gun salute for these fallen heroes on Saturday morning.

The burial ceremony began at 10:00. As the national anthem played, the guard of honor carrying the caskets of the fallen martyrs entered the cemetery. The caskets were draped with the Five-star Red Flag, and participants bowed three times in solemn silence to honor the soldiers' remains.

More than 300 people, including representatives from central and local authorities, the military, war veterans and relatives of CPV martyrs, attended the ceremony.

"We must remember history, so that these martyrs' sacrifices will not have been in vain. We want to tell these heroes that the motherland and its people will never forget them, and that we will forever guard this beloved homeland they cherished," said attendee Wang Shiqi, a student of Beihang University.

"Honoring the martyrs and remembering their heroic deeds, we must carry forward their revolutionary spirit, striving tirelessly for our motherland and our people," said another attendee Yu Hui, head nurse of the critical care medicine department under Liaoning Cancer Hospital and Institute.

The remains of the fallen soldiers and 267 pieces of their personal objects were brought back to China from the Republic of Korea (ROK) aboard a Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force Y-20 transport aircraft on Friday. Since 2014, China and the ROK have completed 12 consecutive handovers involving the remains of 1,011 CPV martyrs in the ROK, along with related artifacts.

About 75 years ago, the CPV crossed the Yalu River and fought the U.S. aggressors in Korea in defense of their motherland. They struggled alongside the army and civilians of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea for two years and nine months and eventually won the great victory in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. More than 197,000 CPV soldiers laid down their lives in the war.
