Chinese premier urges building modern industrial system with local features, advantages

Chinese Premier Li Qiang has urged efforts to implement the innovation-driven development strategy, promote green development, foster new quality productive forces in line with local conditions, and accelerate the building of a modern industrial system with local features and advantages.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made an inspection tour to northwest China's Gansu and Qinghai provinces from Monday to Tuesday.

In Gansu, Li visited Lanzhou Ion Therapy Co., Ltd and an aerospace high-tech industrial park under the Lanzhou Institute of Physics. He underlined the need to support enterprises and research institutions to increase research and development investment, innovate the talent cultivation and incentive mechanisms, and strengthen core technological capabilities.

The premier also learned about afforestation and ecological protection of the Yellow River in the provincial capital Lanzhou. He required local officials to take a holistic and systematic approach to the protection and conservation of mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, lakes, grasslands and deserts and to enhance the hard-earned green foundation. 　　 In Qinghai, Li visited the China Unicom (Qinghai) Sanjiangyuan National Big Data Base, and a clean energy and green computing dispatching center in the provincial capital Xining. He called on the province to unswervingly follow the path of green development.

In Qinghai Hoh Xil Food Co., Ltd, Li urged the yak beef processor to explore the green agriculture and animal husbandry, build a superior brand with healthy and safe quality, and play a leading role in increasing employment and income of farmers and herdsmen. 　　 Li fully affirmed the economic and social development achievements of Gansu and Qinghai, and expressed the hope that the two provinces will forge ahead with determination and work hard to make greater progress in promoting green development and the large-scale development of the western region, thus making new contributions to the country's overall development.

China opposes the use or threat of force in international relations, opposes imposing one's own will on others, and opposes a return of the world to the "law of the jungle," Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday.

During the call, Araghchi briefed Wang on the latest developments in Iran, saying the recent unrest was incited by external forces and that the situation has now returned to stability.

Saying that Iran has made preparations to respond to external interference while keeping the door wide open to dialog, Araghchi expressed hope that China would play a greater role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China consistently upholds the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law, opposes the use or threat of force in international relations, opposes imposing one's own will on others, and opposes a return of the world to the "law of the jungle."

He said that the Chinese side believes the Iranian government and people will stay united, overcome difficulties, maintain national stability, and safeguard their legitimate rights and interests.

Wang also called on all parties to cherish peace, exercise restraint, and resolve differences through dialog, adding that China is willing to play a constructive role in this regard.
