Guangzhou Customs in south China's Guangdong Province has streamlined clearance measures, including smart inspection systems and fast-track entry channels, to ensure efficient processing of goods and attendees at the 138th China Import and Export Fair, commonly known as the Canton Fair.
The Canton Fair is China's longest-running, largest, most comprehensive, and most widely attended international trade event. The 138th edition of the fair will be held in Guangzhou from Oct 15 to Nov 4, with a total exhibition area of about 1.55 million square meters.
A total of 55 exhibition zones will be set up at the fair, which is expected to attract over 30,000 global enterprises from 50 countries and regions.
To ensure the fair's success, Guangzhou Customs has made thorough preparations.
"Under the integrated customs clearance model, we can complete the declaration procedures at the local customs. Once the goods arrive at the port, they are swiftly released and cleared efficiently, making the entire process very smooth," said He Xishan, project manager of the business department of Beijing Waiyun Exhibition Service Co.
Additionally, Guangzhou Customs is actively advancing the construction of a smart customs system and continuously optimizing entry processes for food, cosmetics, animal and plant products, and special items. They are also expanding the range of inbound exhibits.
"To facilitate the smooth operation of the Canton Fair, we have also set up special channels at passenger inspection points at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and the Pazhou-Hong Kong-Macao Passenger Ferry Terminal. These channels ensure the efficient clearance of attendees and exhibition materials," said Huang Xin, deputy section chief of Customs at the Canton Fair Complex under Guangzhou Customs.
