About 500,000 people remain trapped within less than 8 square kilometers in Gaza City, Adnan Abu Hasna, spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said on Sunday.

Israel has threatened Palestinians to flee southward in the Gaza Strip, where the population density would reach about 70,000 people per square kilometer, he said.

There will not even be space to set up a tent, and tens of thousands of families will be left on the streets, homeless, according to Hasna.

He stressed that famine has already spread, with displaced people forced out of Gaza City to the central and southern parts of the Gaza Strip.

Hasna also underscored the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the opening of humanitarian aid corridors.

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) on Aug 22 announced in a report that famine has already occurred in Gaza City and projected that famine would spread to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis by the end of September.

China on Friday sent a sea-launched rocket from the waters near the eastern province of Shandong, placing a group of satellites into planned orbit.

The commercial rocket, CERES-1 Y7, blasted off at 04:10 (Beijing Time), carrying the satellites belonging to the Tianqi constellation. The Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center conducted this offshore mission.
