China is to hold the 8th World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference in Beijing on October 16-18, to bring together global elites to outline a new blueprint for future development of the industry.

Themed "Pooling Intelligence and Energy for Boundless Connectivity", this year's conference offers insights into cutting-edge trends, to facilitate exchange and mutual learning for industry leaders from across the industry chain.

It will spotlight the innovative application of cutting-edge technologies such as information and communications technology, big data, and artificial intelligence (AI) in the automotive sector.

The event will present views from automakers, parts and components suppliers, tech firms and ICT companies to help build policy synergy for the development of intelligent connected vehicles.

During the conference, several reports will be released on the achievements of vehicle-road-cloud integration, AI+automobiles and others, to showcase new technologies, new products, new models and new ecosystems of the industry.

"We hope to work together with other countries around the world to meet challenges together, share development opportunities, and make smart connected vehicles a truly global force for innovation," said Qu Guochun, director-general of the equipment industry development center of China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in an interview on the sidelines of a press conference announcing the agenda of the 8th World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Conference.

China on Friday sent a sea-launched rocket from the waters near the eastern province of Shandong, placing a group of satellites into planned orbit.

The commercial rocket, CERES-1 Y7, blasted off at 04:10 (Beijing Time), carrying the satellites belonging to the Tianqi constellation. The Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center conducted this offshore mission.
