Macao has come alive with vibrant festivities as residents and tourists gather for Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations featuring lantern displays, cultural activities, and family reunions across the city.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, one of China’s most important traditional holidays, is celebrated annually on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is full. This year, it falls on Monday.
Among the many events held across the city, one family-friendly celebration invited participants to craft lanterns and mooncakes together, creating a joyful space for children to explore traditional customs and for families to share moments of reunion.
"We made this beautiful lantern to help the children learn about Chinese traditional culture and festival customs. Everyone is filled with joy, and we come together in harmony. Wishing everyone a happy Mid-Autumn Festival!" said Wong Mei Pou, local resident.
Main streets, parks, and landmarks in Macao have been adorned with colorful lights and lanterns, enhancing the festive spirit.
"We brought our child here today, hoping he can experience the atmosphere of traditional festivals and learn about our Chinese festival culture. Wishing everyone a happy Mid-Autumn Festival, and may our motherland prosper!" said Chao Weng Ian, another resident.
