The guided-missile destroyer Baotou from the 47th Chinese naval escort task force arrived at the Port of Mombasa, Kenya on Saturday for a technical port call.
At around 9:00 in the morning, the warship, flying national flags of China and Kenya, entered the port and was welcomed by representatives from the Kenyan military, China's Ambassador to Kenya and embassy staff, representatives from Chinese enterprises and the Chinese community in Kenya and others.
In approaching the berth, crew members of the ship lined up in formation on the deck and waved to the welcoming crowd.
The destroyer's arrival marked the first time in six years for a Chinese naval vessel to dock in a Kenyan port.
During the technical port call, the Baotou will primarily conduct equipment inspections and maintenance, prepare for subsequent missions, and replenish supplies such as fresh water and provisions.
The crew will also engage in courtesy visits, cultural and sports exchanges, as well as navigation drills to further strengthen friendship and mutual trust between the two nations through interaction and mutual learning.
