"Beauty in Action" will be the title of the closing ceremony of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games, announced the organizing committee at an event in the Italian city of Verona on Thursday.

The closing ceremony will be held on Feb 22, 2026 at the Arena di Verona, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with the amphitheater to be transformed into a spectacular stage.

According to the organizers, the theme "Beauty in Action" pays tribute to the beauty of motion, celebrating the connection between sport, art and human relationships, and reflecting the harmony between nature and the city, mountains and plains.

Inspired by Italy's cultural heritage, the ceremony will combine opera, music, dance, cinema, design and technology, bringing together classical and contemporary elements.

Alfredo Accatino, president of Filmmaster for the 2026 Winter Games, said the creative team will further accentuate the element of humanity at the closing ceremony, echoing the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, China.

"The Beijing Winter Olympics combined the elements of technology and humans to create a really amazing spectacle. The rhythmic light show at the closing ceremony appears to be about light but in fact it also stands for the element of humanity in combination of technology. We are committed to presenting and enhancing the element of human as much as we can," he told reporters.

The creative team emphasized that athletes will be at the heart of the closing ceremony.

An official rendering of the closing ceremony stage was also released on Thursday.
